I'm open to all input in this topic, good bad and ugly lol The basic plan is to take one of my parts cabs, probably a 73-79 dentside as I have a few of them and only one Bump currently. And because I plan to use a stepside box which IMO looks better with a Dent than a Bump. Find a wrecked Honda Civic or Toyota Collora, drop out front member with whole drivetrain, wiring etc. Build a custom tubular frame incorporating front car subframe with a dead axle in back, likely Dodge minivan, around Dent cab and stepside box (Model A box or 48 up) and make a fiberglass front end. Crazy? The basic premise is to have Bumpside or Dentside style with modern efficiency for daily puddle jumper rod. Suggestions? Thanks.
that's weird a fella that i used to work with had like a 96-97 black taurus that had a 5.0 in it i always thought it was a stock option but google says i am wrong hmm
if you really want better mileage, find a small diesel engine out of a tractor or box truck or something, the 4bt cummins or similar sized would have good torque and would deinatly get better mileage than a small gas motor..
^+1 there is a guy on youtube who takes 3 cyl tractor engines and puts them in early 90's f150's i think he reported getting 30-35 mpg. plus it sounds like a tractor. ok i think that was a while ago, please don't get mad at me if he is out of business or something.
i think you should be looking for a little torque monster engine and gearing, lots of gears. like 2 transmissions gearing. sounds awesome to me! good luck i'm subing hoping for progress on this.
