I have the Edge CTS and run at level three most the time as well. I stay away from level four - extreme - as I suspect this is the mode that could possibly damage a transmission. No proof, other then trying it out a couple of times and feeling how hard it shifts. I don't romp on it in general but can feel the extra power level three offers. Tranny shifts don't seem hard to me at this level either. Oh, and I do have studs. Guage selection is real nice. I have a backup camera attahed to it as well.
I have a 2006 F-350 Lariat 6.0 CC SB SRW 5R110W
I plan on loading SCT-X3 custom tunes tailored to many upgrades to Powerstroke
and 6~speed 5R110W...
...Is the Edge Insight Touchscreen STC-CTS (or CS) the non-tuner unit?
Also, is it true that factory PID readings from OEM sensors for Boost, EOT, ECT & TFT
are accurate/dependable and require no Edge connected probes/sensors? Some are said to be on/off 'dummy' switches and not sensors.
Please advise on the list below [Need or Don't Need]:
> EGT (Best location?) Where in Magnaflow(no Kitty)?
> ECT (Best location?)
> EOT (Best location?) Before or after oil cooler?
> FP (Best location?)
> Turbo $aver
> Camera
Are factory PIDs for list below sufficiently accurate?
< Turbo Boost
< EGT #2 at or near turbo?
< TFT
< Low FP warning (can Edge alarm be programmed)
Please recommend the best dealer for package or bundling prices.
Thanks tons!!!!

I have a SCT Livewire TS that I got from Innovative Diesel. Its everything in one. Tuner, nine different guages to monitor my engine, and custom tunes for my truck from Innovative at no extra cost. Was it expensive? You bet, $600.00, but to monitor everything it does with the killer tunes, worth it. I also picked up 2mpg so it will pay for itself in less than 30,000 miles. It ran like a different truck with proper tunes. I also added the exhaust gas temp sensor as I tow with the truck as well. Cheap insurance to know the oil and coolant temps all the time.
I run an Edge JWA Platinum. Have for a long time. It does tune the trans, and shuts down the adaptives too. I am not studded and turn 19.5's in level 5 all the time. I'm not an idiot, and the truck is just fine. Most of the Edge blowing the tranny storys are because of a tuner and lead foot or other underlying causes (ie. low power from stuck turbo). Period. I know a few people that lost trannys with SCT tunes, or custom tunes via SCT too.
I don't know of any ECMS/PID changes from the 2006 to 2007.
The SCT Livewire TS may eliminate the need for an Edge unit if
it can be custom tuned to upgrades like the X3. Were your tunes
canned or written via the process listed below?
>SCT-X3 with 3 custom tunes @ $399 in 2012<
1) Order and receive X3.
2) Download current Ford flash/version from truck.
3) Return to seller/tuner with all 6L/5R110 upgrade details and
desired tunes (ex: Tow/Haul, Street, High Performance/Race).
I was told that a turbo~jake brake could be programmed
& taylored to all 3 tunes and would reduce VGT coking!
Does your 'Livewire' pull accurate readings for EGT, ECT, TFT,
EOT, FP & Turbo Boost from factory sensors?
I'll call/browse for details about High Valley Temp Alarm,
Low FP Warning Alarm.
I'm also intent on the Turbo $aver anti-coking feature!
Camera system would be ideal to have on the Livewire.
I like the Edge's customizable Alarm features + Camera.
