Does a complete solution kit need a HPOP

Hello

Wondering if I am updating my engine, with a River City Diesel Complete Solution Kit, is it worth my while to put a HPOP in there.
$600 with shipping unless there is a better cheaper outfit ?

I would like to do the injector tips, "O" rings as well.

The truck has 150,000 miles and the EGR has not been addressed.

My initial plan was to just do the EGR delete and Oil Cooler and New Water Pump, but it has snowballed a bit because I realize the importance of the head and studs and gaskets. Though none as of now show bad signs...yet !

The truck is behaving ok and is just lacking a bit of trailering up hill power.
The Oil temp is ok, boost is ok. I have egr codes, egr valve cleaned, back-pressure sensor clean. 58vficm Oil flush with rev-x.

So I may be missing something, but I want to be sure the injector "O" rings, connection from HPOP are ok, and it seems while in there, the head's and injectors is/are only a few steps further.

The VGT is newer and works but not great, it really works with-out load.

I do not need more power, but it is lacking.

I have a Auto-Enginuity and test Fuel Press, Oil Temp Boost and some others on a regular basis.

Any comments are appreciated and welcome

Thanks Folk, for reading my long worded statement.

also here is my list of to-do's, please add if desired

---------------------------------------------------------------

I what to delete the egr/block it, run the coolant back to the degas (or add the Kit), new straight uppipe to turbo new oil-cooler and water-pump, blue-spring, crank-case-vent-charcoal-canister
new injector tips, intake plenm gaskets
egr gaskets? no egr? I am deleting the egr (the only reason is because it is only fed from one side making it "mickey-mouse".
turbo oil lines, Turbo Oil Feed Line, Turbo Drain Tube
reverse flush coolant
Intake Gasket Kit
HPOP Screen and new pump????

oil cooler cover MUST be changed to the newer style (2004model-up) because the connecting point on the oil cooler cover for that line was redesigned

If the bend is smooth, then the drain tube is OK. If the bend has what appears to be a slight indentation in it, then that is the one to be replaced. So I think mine being a 03 has the old, then I need the 05 and up therefore need the new tube/line??? COMMENTS ???

IPR screen

upgrade to 05 oil filter vs remote oil filter

Thermostat

06, is the updated STC fitting on the HPOP mine being a 03 don't require.

Rotella T6 5w40 full synthetic

I hope that covers it,,,,,,,,,,,,

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

The only non "broken" item I would consider is an EGR delete.

cool thanks

I am of that school.

The truck is a Wrecker/Tow in the wilds of B.C. Canada

There is no other for 600km, so I need it dependable.

Our family is going on vacation for 2 weeks and it could have some attention.

Just figured, the only other problem other than the egr is the Injector O rings that could really account for the poor trailering performance.

Kind Regards

James

Funny things happens around here:

A guy's truck runs just fine, but figures he will upgrade this and replace that and next thing you know he ends up driving a bucket of bolts and should have just left it alone.

The #1 thing you need are gauges, whether Dashboss, SG2, Torque or AE.

Thanks Bullitt 360

You would know, and I appreciate it !

so thanks !

That is why I purchased the AE, but running a Wrecker service I do see catastrophic failure on vehicles, my terrain is 800 miles. So I will need some dash gauges as the AE is cumbersome.

I am not running extra tunes, just stock. So there should not be problems.

I would like the truck to run for a long time, and I see a few weeks of down time as good to do preventive care.

Again, upon most peoples and Yours again (Thanks) I will continue my monitoring program.

Full coolant flush and use a CAT EC-1 coolant. Your EOT/ECT temps would dictate whether you need an oil cooler.

EGR delete

With gauges you'll catch the other stuff ahead of time.

Thank You !

Great, I believe the oil temps are ok.

When I purchased the truck in 2008, that was one of the things along with coolant filters fluids etc and purchased a AE to help.

I feel I have Limped it Along because I don't need a broken work truck I did not push anything, and they are great out of the box anyway.

Josh, would you prefer the EGR delete by way of straight up pipe or, blocking the old which hopefully has less ability to "Rattle" around. As I have read, some have a problem with a straight up pipe because it has nothing to hold it. But maybe that was a while ago, and flanges and technology has come some way in the last 2-3 years??

Appreciate everybody, Thanks again Josh

I did the "stealth" delete by welding plugs in the old cooler.

I've heard of issues with using a straight up-pipe, but also there are plenty that don't have any problems too.
