Need help selecting the correct ignition module from Rock Auto.

A few months ago I was picking up a 3-wheeler with the Highboy and it would randomly die then start back up. I pulled over and installed the spare ignition module, good to go. I've been running the with the spare ever since.
This past weekend I was 4-wheeling my Bronco and all of the sudden it started cutting out but idled pefectly. I had trailered the Bronco with the Highboy so I grabbed the igition module off the Highboy and was good to go. Then I had to put the ingition module back on the Higboy to get home.
So needless to say I need some spares. Rock auto has em for $11 and some change. I'm probably going to buy 3 of them. One for the Bronco and 2 spares.
If you look here. 1979 FORD BRONCO Ignition Control Module (ICM) There are a bunch of choices. The top 2 are out since I don't have high altitude. So its either #3 or #4 on the list. Anyone know the difference or should I just pick one? Weird thing is when I look up the modules for the 76 F-250 the first 4 listed for the Bronco aren't listed for the F-250 but the rest are. And if you actually look up the modules for the Bronco rather than using my link, there is an info buttom. If you click on info the $11 ones say they fit 76 F-250.
And if anyone is interested in the Bronco you can see it here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...o-mud-toy.html

Number three and four on that list are the same part. As long as you get ones with the Blue grommet, that is what both those vehicles call for.

EDIT: If your getting one of those get the E302X since you can see it has the blue grommet

Thanks! Any idea what the difference between the blue and white are? I can clearly see blue in #4 so I think I will go with that one.

The year it covered I would think. My 75 has a green one, blue was 76 and up. I know there are other colors but I don't know the specifics.

Brown is the high altitude module.

The white and yellow modules had a third connector for a vacuum sensor, basically to sense load on the engine and dial back some ignition advance.

My best guess is they're the "same" module though one is the extended warranty version and the other is the 1yr warranty version, which is which i do not know.

Cool. Maybe the "X" is extended warranty. Thats the one I got. Some of these are spares so they likely sit until warranty is up anyway. At that price I'm not real worried about it. I was looking at the pic again and seen "USA" cast into the part. I ordered 4 of them. lol.

The 3 step scenario of a failing DuraSpark ignition module.

1) Module overheats, engine dies. Module cools down, engine restarts almost at once.

2) Module overheats, engine dies. Module cools down, engine restarts in an hour or so.

3) Sooner or later, usually sooner, the module overheats, BURNS OUT. Now the engine will not restart.

Engine heat, especially radiating from the V8's red hot left exhaust manifold, is the mortal enemy of these modules.

Module installed on left fender inner apron. When replacing, use some washers to space it further away from the apron. The more airflow, the better.

The modules used in the 1970's were so unreliable, that Ford techs referred to them as NeverSpark!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1974/79 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline: There were five different DuraSpark ignition modules.

One was 1974 only. One was 1975 only. One was only installed in some 1976/79 sold new in CA vehicles. One was the "high altitude" module installed in 1978/79 (and 1980).

Modules are identified by a colored plastic square above where the wires feed out.

1974 only: D4AZ-12A199-C .. Ignition Module Black Plastic Square (Motorcraft DY-157-B).

All 1974 FoMoCo vehicles.
-------------------------
1975 only: D5AZ-12A199-C .. Ignition Module Green Plastic Square (Motorcraft DY-166-B).

All 1975 FoMoCo vehicles.
-------------------------
1976/79: 1U2Z-12A199-AA (replaced D6AZ-12A199-A, D8VZ-12A199-A, D9VZ-12A199-A) .. Ignition Module Blue Plastic Square (Motorcraft DY-893).

This module was used well into the 1990's on myriad FoMoCo vehicles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1976/79 CA only: D7AZ-12A199-A (replaced D6AZ-12A199-B) .. Ignition Module Red Plastic Square (Motorcraft DY-204).

This module was a total POS from day one!
-------------------------------------------
1978/79 High Altitude only: D9AZ-12A199-C (replaced D8AZ-12A199-A) .. Ignition Module-Yellow Plastic Square (Motorcraft DY-237-A).

D8AZ-12A199-A ~ Brown Plastic Square.
------------------------------------------
Don't forget this little charmer, the same symptoms apply to it as they do to a failing ignition module.

D4PZ-12A112-A .. Stator aka Magnetic Pickup Coil (Motorcraft DU-1A).

All 1974/79 V8 Passenger Cars/Trucks/Bronco's/Econolines except 1979 LTD/Grand Marquis 351W with EEC

I had a similiar problem on 76 f250. It ran good till it got warmed up then would die and wouldn't spark until cooled down. It must have been happening to the previous owner because there was an extra module sitting next to it to plug into that was in similiar condition. I got a couple used ones from a guy and tryed them but the plugs were different. I finally went to NAPA and forked over $55 for the new one and knock on wood it fixed that prob.
