I am considering purchasing a new truck in the next year or two (probably before the upcoming body style redo) and really like the optioned-out FX4 package. However, due to the need to install some communications equipment, a floor shifter isn't an option.
Has anyone attempted a conversion to a column shift? Curious to know if this would be feasible.

I have an optioned out 13 FX4. Has the flow through console. I have a work requirement for a cb as well as a cellular booster. I put them both in the bottom of the console. Worked out pretty good.

Just for giggles, take a look at a Lariat optioned the way you like it. The only thing that will be greatly different is the chrome and the FX details.

I shall put it this way... the ARE topper on the back has 15 antenna mounts on top. Can't shoehorn that much stuff into a factory console. The current truck has 30" and 18" Havis consoles back to back - extending from the dash to the front of the rear seats.

I looked at that... however, what I want in the FX4 is the appearance package - smoked lights, black wheels, black interior, etc. (lose the ugly bodyside graphics, of course). If I can't arrange that, I'll just do another XLT most likely.

many the visual goodies of the FX and none of the interior non-sense.
the headlights and tail lights could be changed out for FX lights if you you would like.
I would either go with the F150 XLT or a SD with the 6.2L gas engine if I were in your position, tvsjr. The flow-thru console is a deal breaker for me as well. I had the same luck as you with my 05 SD 6.0L. That engine could have been a good engine had not so many corners been cut to save money.

just not available in a crew cab (BOOO!)
Supercrew is a requirement...

I was hoping for the fuel savings of the EB - I don't tow enough to really merit a Super Duty. An XLT is what I have now, and probably what I will do for a replacement... unless I can figure out how to do this conversion.
I think it would be easier to put the FX4 seats and goodies on an XLT than to convert an FX4 into column shift. Even after converting, you'll have that hole in the floor of a new truck. I hate to think of patching a large hole in the floor of a new $40K+ truck. Just my opinion.
