excusion possitive battery cable replacement HELP!

The terminal on the passenger side, possitive battery terminal corroded and broke. I ordered a new on from Touley ford and am trying to install it. It isnt exaclty like the original.
The first problem is that on the passenger side there is a flat spade looking connection that has two eye connectors. Where does it go? Also, there is a cable from the orginial harness that goes up toward the glow plug module, does it need to stay on place and hooked up with the new harness?
The other question is about the yellow awith green striped wire going from the starter up to a connector on the passenger firewall. What is it for and does it need to stay or is it replaced with the new harness?
Thanks for any help.

P.S. this is on a 2002 excursion PSD.

You may have got the wrong cable. I just replaced my positive battery cable on my 02 F350 for the same reason and it was an exact oem replacement. everything matched up exactly took about 20min to replace. I got mine from Rock auto.

What was the part number you ordered? I still have the box that mine came in I can look. yours should be the same as mine assuming you have single alt.

Part number I used was WC-95681 or 2C3Z-14300-CA

Got it here for $57.79

Sounds like you have the '99-'01 cable....try and return it and get the correct piece. You could use what you have but you will have to splice the charge and starter solenoid wires from your original harness to the new (old style) cable and it won't be ideal.

I called Touley ford and asked about it to make sure it was the right one and the guy said there was only one opition so it had to be correct. I will check the invoice and see what part number it is. It is a little dirty from trying to install it. Will they exchange it out for the new one? I hate to spend 70 bucks after shipping for nothing.

It is a single alternator. Since it is an Excursion, would it be alittle different? It has the glow plug module instead of the relay.

I've got a 2001 with the GPCM and a positive cable that's a little beat up. If you can't return that cable and get your money back, I'll buy it off you so at least you're not out the dough and someone will get some use out of it. I'll keep it on my shelf until I need it.

The guy you spoke with at Tousley is mistaken. Some parts counter guys don't know how to mine their data very well.

Here is a thread that shows the differences between the cables.

This is the cable you need ('02-'03 7.3 diesel)

By your description, this is the cable you bought or perhaps the cable they sent you in error...

I know it's possible to install the later style in the earlier trucks because I did that on one of my own trucks, but I am not sure about going the other way. I suppose you could use the early style cables on the later style trucks but you will have to salvage and re-use the starter solenoid wire from your existing harness. That should be pretty easy since it's only taped along side the larger battery cable section. The problem you will have is reconnecting the Glow plug and AIH power feed to the passenger side battery terminal and the fuse box power feed to the driver's side terminal. The passenger side is an easy fix. Simply cut off the "Y" splice from the '99-'01 harness leaving as much wire as you can coming out of the passenger side positive terminal connector. That connector has two wires coming out of it....a giant one and a smaller one (although that smaller one is still a pretty heavy size...). The smaller wire would connect to the wire ring that originally bolted onto the stud terminal on the passenger side clamp from your original assembly. You will need to make a really good splice there since that is primary power for several engine components and also your alternator charge wire. Make sure you do NOT cut off the fusible links there.

Next, you move over to the driver's side. You will need to find some way to re-attach the fuse block power wire to the positive battery cable. You may have enough wire to simply clamp onto the bolt portion of the lead battery post terminal clamp. If so, then you are good to go. Again, make sure your connections are solid, clean and insulated so you don't have problems down the road.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Shake n Bake. you hit the nail on the head. I will call them tomarrow and see if they can send the right one. the box they sent it in has the correct part number on it but it is indeed the wrong style with the Y connector.
If they will not take it back, it sounds like I can make it work. Correct? I just want it to be dependable because it is my wifes and I sometimes work out of town and want it to be depndable.
