Fuel return lines not flowing

So I have been trouble shooting my 86 6.9l for what sounds like a small miss at idle. When listening/feeling the exhaust there is a distinct pressure change that match's the puff sound.
So far I have:

- Put clear lines on the fuel line going into the lift pump. Found no air.

- Put clear lines on the return lines and found that cylinders 2,4,6,8 have no return line flow and because of that have a substantial amount of air just sitting in them. It is almost like there is an opposing pressure that does not allow for the line to flow to the return line at the back of the engine. It is like there is not enough diesel getting to the driver's side return lines. I should also note that no air travels in the line from the FF to the # 1 Injector return.

I also pulled the IP and cleaned/inspected it and found a small leak at the servo advance plunger. I don't know how this would effect only one side of the return lines tho.

Anyways I am going to keep hunting for air intrusion until I am positive there is no air getting in. Pretty stumped at this point. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
