fuel lines
Hi fellows,
I have a 88, f250 4X4 with a 7.3 IDI that has been giving me a lot of greif with air in the lines. Last week she shut off completly and i can see air in the plastic return line on the water seperator. Today i took a 5 g pail of diesel and ran a line to the fuel pump and the truck started up and ran just fine after a quick prime. Is there any way to tell if it is the return line or the supply line that has the air leak with out removing them completly? Also i was wondering if i could just replace these lines with regular fuel line as my ford dealer says they are not making them any more? Is there any way to test the tank selector switch for air leaks?

Read up on the clear line test....... Ford diesel 6.9 7.3 IDI
They may not be making the lines but repair kits are available at AP stores.
As for supply line put a clear line in place of the flexible rubber hose on the fuel lift pump inlet. Check the steel fuel line under the engine crossover for leaks/wear marks and wet spots.
