I might be looking at a '00 Excursion 7.3 PS 2WD and other then the engine what should I be looking for. The vehicle is listed at having 225K miles on it but if the required service has been done that shouldn't be an issue with the 7.3PS. I drove some late 90's F450s towing loads up to 25K lbs and they were pushing 300K and still going strong.
I won't be towing anything close to that (under 10K max.) and the 2WD is what I would want for the same reason.
The price is just to attractive to not go and look at it. Well under $10K and looks very clean from the pictures posted on line.
From the pictures you can see that they were taken last year. I can also tell you that the vehicle was posted for sale sometime late last year as I remember coming across the same ad with the same pictures. Bottom line is the owner has tried to sell it in the past and no buyer was found.
Seller says he's in Hammond, IN which is less then 6 miles from me. What could it hurt to look?
I wouldn't go by looks in my opinion. Especially with over 200+ But looks great on film. Not sure about the headlights but that's just me. Kind of unique color. If it looks that good outside i hope it looks as good engine wise for you. Good luck.
I am sure others will blast me, but when I am looking at a truck I want it to be a Truck not riced out. When I see aftermarket headlights and tinted rear covers on a truck I immediately get the impression it was young guy owned. Generally rode hard, not the best care or maintenance, loud stereo installed that has loosened every interior panel. Dont get me wrong, aftermarket has its places, my Fox Body Mustang is far from stock lights included, but its not a daily driver vacation taker.

I'm not a fan of the improperly spaced wheels, they look to be off a newer SD truck. Look at the fronts compared to the back. It looks like a decent truck from the outside. I just wonder what suprises await under the good. Green coolant is ok as long as it was maintained with the proper ford additive. If not I Would expect cooling system issues. Another thing to look for Is leaky up pipes. Look for soot behiend the turbo and on the firewall where the pipes meet at the rear of the turbo. It's an issue that's fixable but bellowed uppies are almost 500.00.
