Ok so I found a 1995 f150 2wd eddie bauer edition with a 4.9l and a 5 speed transmission. Has 155k miles on it, but the body is in excellent shape, the box is a little beat up inside. This truck actually belonged to one of my current teachers at school, and before him it belonged to another teacher at my school, so I am aware of the history on this truck. It is at our local ford dealer now and they are asking $2995 for it, but it only books at around $1600 in excellent condition? I was thinking that it should be valued around what ford is asking for it, but I was curious what you guys thought? There are pictures of it on this site's classifieds section for beatrice nebraska (68310) if anyone cares to take a look at it. Let me know what y'all think.
Having worked as a car salesman for a number of years in the past, I would suggest you make an offer just below what the book value is and go from there. They probably, in real money, only paid between $750 and $1000 for the vehicle.
Actually, my teacher says they gave him $4000 off on a trade-in on a newer model f150. But I don't see how a 1995 E.B. in excellent condition is only valued at $1600? I don't know if I am gonna offer for it or not, I was just wondering what the ford community thought it was worth.
I remember looking at a similar truck that was pretty clean inside and out, but it was a private seller. 300 I6, 5 speed, 2wd. They were asking $2500 for it but I never really tried to find his bottom line since I got something else.
They are good trucks but $3000 is too much for it in my opinion. I think if the truck was perfect inside and out and a 4wd, between 2-3000 wouldn't be too bad. Remember dealer prices are always a little more than what a private seller would be able to get.
Looking at the pictures on the website, it seems they originally started at $3995, then $3495 and now are at $2997. I can tell you that KBB only calls for a price of $2380 in excellent condition, with the same miles and options as that one has down here. Personally, methinks they are probably hoping someone is going to walk in and go "WOW, an Eddie Bauer edition" and open the wallet up. IMHO, 4K was dreaming, and even 3K is still too high.
Book value can be too low at times, IMHO. If you could get out the door for ~$2.5K, I would say that's good, granted I have not seen any pics and it runs fine.
How does it compare to other trucks in the area price ans conditon wise? If it's a practical buy and you want it... pull the trigger.

Nah, they started at $3495. They crossed out the $3995 the first day it was there to make it look like they lowered it already. Comparitively it is in excellent shape to other trucks of the same year/mileage/ and in our area. They salt the HELL out of our roads here every winter, and it EATS our trucks! This truck runs and drives like new, but it has a couple of small rust spots, and the bed as been used. I am looking for this engine/trans. combo, but I really want it in an extended cab pickup, and hopefully a 4x4, but doesn't have to be.
way more than id pay for a 15 year old 2wd f150.
4k trade in? im gunna say a little "paperwork" was done for that.
the mazda 5 speed isn't much to write home about either.i wouldn't want another one.
$1200 tops or i walk away.
(i always pay under KBB.old trucks require $ in repairs.if i didn't live in the rust belt, this would be drastically different.)
Since it has visible rust spots, I'm going to say maby 1800, but definitely no more than 2000, unless it has some really good point like a brand new engine or transmission with proof and warranty.
Remember, buying from a dealer you have to get temp tags, registration, get insurance on it immediately, plus any other fees they come up with. If it were here in NJ it would be over $3000 just to drive the truck home if it was purchased at $2500
I'm not buying this truck anyways, I was just curious what you guys thought about it. I found a different truck I am in the process of checking out/purchasing at this very moment. Will find out monday if I get it or not.
