Starting
So, this am I try to remote start the truck. It was 15 out and it sat overnight. I can see it flash, but it won't try to start. I tried this three times and gave up.
When I got in the truck a few minutes later, inserted key turned part way for glow plugs then when I turned the key to start the display wen blank and nothing happened, dead, no start. Tried this 3 times, same thing. On the fourth try it started up like normal. Started the rest of the day just fine.
Anybody ever experience anything like this?

I'm not saying this is your issue, but, the only time my remote start did not work was when the hood switch shorted out.
On the right side of the radiator, top corner, there is a switch that tells the PCM that the hood is shut. My switch went bad and it wouldn't remote start. I never had any key start problems though.
On edit, probably should put a trickle charger on the batts. They might be going bad.

If I recall correctly, there is something in the manual about only being allowed three attempts to remote start. After that, the system won't allow a remote start until an actual key start. I don't know why your truck responded to the remote start command, but failed to start tho.
