I've found that the metal sleeve inside the nipple on the bottom that feeds into the system, has come out of the nipple. This is the 2nd time on 2 degas bottles. There is no EGR cooler, or evidence of compression gases/contamination. The coolant is still the gold color it was when I poured it in.
I've already replaced it due to it leaking after the sleeve comes out, but I was wondering what the deal with this is? Is it just bad luck with the bottles or?
The first one I replaced the sleeve was pushed out much further with a much smaller leak, this time it lost a gallon sitting and idling over 10 minutes. I checked the y connection and found it to be in good shape. I really don't know what the cause of this would be, and it's really strange.
The insert just works out through heating and cooling cycles and vibration. You could put some epoxy around the end and tap it back in, also make sure the clamp is where the insert is and not too far on to compress the insert.
