here's my problem sort of,i get a small drip on the passenger side only when i plug it in and it only does it sometimes, today i had a better look to see were it is coming from and it looks like it coming from the top somewhere just in front of the turbo,my truck has a 147,000klm with out a problem, truck has always run so,so,but gets me there and back,i rather have an oil leak then this darn coolant drip as i have pets and really don't want them licking up the sweet stuff, probl have added 1/2 a litre of coolant since i,ve had so its not a big leak but annoying
sounds like the egr cooler hose. look down under the outlet on the turbo and look for a orange hose or a blue hose if the intake or egr cooler has been replaced. the little hose is the supply for the egr cooler and can drip when ever they feel like it.
Well, my 6.0 has only 26,000 miles and I'm getting a drip every 4 to 5 seconds from the passenger side up around there the engine lift hook is. Looks like it's coming from where the head meets the block. I saw the orange EGR hose and EVERYTHING on top of the motor including that hose is dry. I'm 99% sure the fluid is coolant. The truck is 6 days out of the three year bumper to bumper warranty, but the dealer said the driveline warranty should cover it and I'll only be out $100 for deductible. Anyway, I'm spending two hours in the forums arming myself in case they try and pull some crap.

A good dealer will take care of you for only being 6 days out of warrenty!!! There are exceptions to every rule. Did you buy it from them too?
I know my dealer (not even where I bought my truck) wouldn't hesitate to help out for 6 days past 3/36 warrenty... and yes... they did for me!!!
Did buy the truck from them. They actually called while I'm surfing the web to say that it is not coolant and they think it's condensate from my A/C or heater. I haven't run any of my climate controls recently and there's been a drop of liquid every 4 to 5 seconds for two days. It sounds like one of those things that I'll have to watch. The one thing that's been on my mind is if this somehow has to do with how friggin cold SoCal has been the last two days. It hasn't been this cold here since I bought the truck. And I know it is not truly cold (only 27 deg. at night), but colder than usual and seems coincidental.
I was really positive it was coolant. The green stuff would be obvious, but this is the gold type. I dipped a finger in the degass tank and compared to what was leaking under my engine. They felt very similar viscosity wise and neither had a smell.
Here is the kicker in my book. The truck has been at the dealer for almost five hours now and I just went outside to verify the liquid is still on the ground. Water would have evaporated by now (I park on a steep driveway and the liquid is not puddled). This liquid is "oily" and looks like it will be there a while. However, the liquid does wash off your hands quite easily with warm water.
Will keep everyone posted.

Make sure the paperwork/reciept you have documents the "concern" or what they checked... so if it happens again in the near future... it will still be covered under warrenty.
Ask them:
1) Did they pressure test the system and leave at pressure to see if any leaks?
2) Did they utilize all heat/AC controls and did any condensation form and drip (since you have not been running)?
3) Ask them about the "puddle" not evaporating in your driveway?
On my '03 Excursion, even when in the "heater mode" the AC light is still on when in the "Auto" mode... so the system does cycle the AC compressor to remove any moisture... but mine will go away or shut off if the system senses that the outside air is too cold.
More on that puddle - My driveway is pretty steep and the liquid has been there for 8 hours and not evaporated even now. I got the truck home from the dealer at 6:00 pm and didn't see any leaks underneath. When I got home, the puddle was still there prompting me to get about 3 ounces of tap water and pour it next to the puddle. The water ran much farther down the driveway. Then I chalk outlined both puddles keeping in mind the unidentified liquid has already been on the driveway for 8 hours. At 7:25 pm I went outside to observe the puddles and the water (control) was evaporated completely leaving only a chalk outline. The unidentified puddle still lingers and has not withdrawn from the chalk at all.
Oops. Forgot to mention truck is going back tomorrow. I'll ask the questions posed by beachbumcook regarding the cooling system. Unfortunatley the truck has to go back anyway as they took care of a recall regarding the control module and something to do with CA new diesel fuel emissions. Anyway, I come home and turn off the ignition. When I step out of the truck something under the hood is buzzing for about two minutes. I'm way too fed up to even lift the hood. The dealer will deal with it tomorrow.

The buzzing is normal and is part of the new PCM strategy. It now cycles your injectors to clear all oil out of them so the oil does not thicken within the injectors parts to cause hard or rough starting.
Have never heard people say they run for 2 minutes... more like 10 - 30 seconds????
Once your truck is "reflashed" (computer re-programmed)... it can not be undone or put back.... this is the latest computer program from Ford and your left with it.... so you will have to get used to the "buzzing"... sorry.
Gay!...I'm already fed up with the buzz and it's been one time. Definately much longer than 10 seconds, but seems like forever when you're irritated. I'll probably check exact timeframe tomorrow before I lodge the compaint. For other folks reading this thinking what a wuss. Believe me - it is pretty loud and when you are used to turning off the ignition and have silence, it is pretty unnerving. Oops Mr. Customer...forgot to tell you about that before we re-f**ked (I mean re-flash) your truck.
Remember when auto-headlights first came out and you'd leave your car in the parking lot and a guy would yell, "hey, you forgot your lights". Now it is gonna be, "hey, what's wrong with that truck?"
Funny, I just re-read beachbumcook's message about the re-f**ck and I'm wondering something. Doesn't the oiling system provide the means with which the injectors operate? They are hydraulically operated, or something along those lines. I'm thinking oil also lubes the mechanical parts of the injectors so cycling all the oil out would be like when a motor sits overnight and you start it in the morning. Theres no oil to lube the motor since it's all in the pan. I know they've been saying for years this is bad. So lets wonder what happens when there is no oil present in the injectors and you start the motor. Well, wear comes to mind, but we can't leave out how important this is to Californias emissions standards. Of course, I'm no engineer so what do I know. Suspect everyone.
quit thinking so much. it does not hurt the injectors. oil loads the injectors it does not lubricate them. the buzzing shakes off excess residual oil that could cause cold start issues.
my EGR cooler was just replaced under warranty... EGR cooler was "cracked".. dunno how that happened.. also ICP sensor was "blown".. take it to the dealer.. prob something simple..
