1998 ranger

hello everyone ,i have a 1998 ranger that i recently purchased 4x4 4.0l with automatic 5r55e it has no forward gears and because of the cost of a new automatic was thinking of putting a 5 speed manual what kinda problems would i have and can it be done? and what all would i have to change?

Well, you'd need a trans, M5R1, from a 4x4 and 4.0 engine, matching flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, probebly a different drive shaft, (rear) brake and clutch petals, clutch master cyl, might be a few other things too.

what about the electrical part will the wiring and computer have to be changed also?

its doable, but kinda a pain. Best thing to do is buy a donor vehicle that is a manual trans and transfer all the parts. Buying a used trans is another good option.
