I guess my truck is getting back at me for leaving it parked & riding my bike...
I recently replaced my up pipe gaskets & rebuilt my turbo only to still have an exhaust leak in the up pipe area. It looks to be coming from the baby butt to turbo connection but soot is everywhere and my blood pressure is thru the roof...
It also looks like I'm losing oil from the exhaust side of my turbo
I pulled the turbo and noticed the exhaust turbine was a little oily, but I thought that maybe the oil seal just needed some miles to seat itself.
Now that I have a few hundred miles on the turbo rebuild I'm seeing some oil around the turbo hold down bolt area and I've lost two quarts.
I guess I'll be pulling it all apart again. I just hate doing things twice...
I feel your pain. One of the work trucks came into the shop with a vibration at 50ish mph. I took it for a test drive, and 45-60 it has a bad vibration and a growl at 20 mph. It's worse in 4wd. While I check the u-joints on a new driveshaft, they all need replaced. I don't think it's balanced. While under there, there is oil on the bell housing, and all over the front of the motor. EBP valve is leaking oil, and so is the oil pump seal. Jack up the front end, still looking for the cause of the vibration, and one of the front bearings is bad, and a brake slide pin is frozen on the other wheel. This truck came from one of the other yards whirr they have their own shop. Makes you want to slam your head in the door. Thanks for letting me vent!
Edit: this truck is turning into a Stinky!
(that was for you Tugly, I enjoy reading your adventures)
If you weren't so far down south I'd come help you turn wrenches brother. Or at the very least pass you a beer.
I appreciate it Jeff, and thanks for idea. I'm going to the store for a 12 pack
I don't mind one issue, but when a new issue pops up before I can fix the first issue....
My beer run backfired on me too.
I was backing into a spot at Publix with the sun in back window and wound up tapping a tree and denting my shiny '08 rear bumper...
