Runs great, starts great butt 1 time out of 5 when you push throttle truck dies, no problem restarting it will do this 4 to 5 times and then goes great any ideas

X2 on CPS. Mine would buck occasionally before dying. Then it would start right back up. Didn't throw a code for about a month. Then boom and a code. This was about seven years ago.

 

As mentioned, if you've never replaced your CPS, that is the likely culprit. You can take it to a dealership and have it replaced for free, as there is a recall on the original CPS's. Or, you can simply buy a new one for about $20 from an online OEM parts dealer.

Most of us keep a spare in the glove box. If this does the trick grab another. If not, you've got your spare. Sure sounds like CPS symptoms though.
