CPS trouble

The '96 F-250 hick-ups an dies frequently. Only pulled a MAP code but as I had a new CPS I wanted to give it a shot. Put the new one in and- NO start. Put the old one back in- fired right up. Sent the new CPS back and got another- same story! The CPS's I tried are "Standard" brand. Black. I rememember reading somebodys post here about the engine not running right with the "Standard" CPS. Am I missing something here or have I really got two "bad out-of the box "ones in a row?
Also- can a CPS make the truck hick-up and die without throwing a code?
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks

when I had to replace my CPS it wa at 98k and still covered under the 100 k warrenty. The dealer hooked up a recorder because the truck did not throw any code just like you situation. When I took it back to them it still had no data showing the hickup and stall. Then the dealer drove it for the day and it happened to them. They replaed the cps and it has been fine since. So yes it can hickup and stall and not throw a code.. Jeff

Thanks! Good info! I wonder why two new sensors don't work. Is it possible that I have got wrong sensors? They sure look exactly the same as the old one. Even the same color. Anyone having any trouble with the "Standard" brand? What brand should I look for?

Sometimes it's best to get parts from the "Ford" dealer..in this case I believe it is. I get mine from the local Ford dealer and they are under $30. I bought 2 of them and keep 1 in the glove box, just in case.
