Oops, I didn't mean to make it sound like it was a critical thing to check on a regular basis. I simply clean mine every 15k since I am already in there doing other stuff and it's such a simple procedure when done on a regular basis. I drove that truck for almost 200k miles before I even looked at those components and they were dirty but still functional....the sensor was a few psi off and after extensive cleaning I got it to be within 1 psi of the MAP at KOEO. I decided I didn't want to have to spend that much time cleaning it ever again so I came up with a 15k interval cycle just so it wouldn't ever get that dirty ever again. Now-a-days its about a 5 or 10 minute procedure...

I hardly ever check the EBP readings with my AE any more....maybe I should look into that soon. I am sure a new sensor would give a more accurate value but the truck seems to run OK so it hasn't been on my 'hot list' of stuff to do.

Funny. Yeah, after thinking a bit more about it probably good for 30k at least. Mine was stopped up at 198k when I checked and cleaned, and I doubt the previous owner did anything with it. If the truck liked it I didn't know enough to notice.

Tugly, I did the measuring as you suggested. To my untrained eyes, they don't look good. Do I need a new EBP sensor, MAP a MAP sensor? Note the MAP volt reading is red and maxed out. Erwin

first pic --- KOEO
2nd pic --- KOER_idle_EBPV open
3rd pic --- KOER_EBPV closed 1500rpm

The sensor is on top of the water pump.
The EBP sensor isn't very delicate.

A Q-tip is supposed to fit in there? When I had mine off I swear there was maybe just a 1/16" hole in mine. No where near the size for a Q-tip.

It's snug but fits, I just had q-tips in there a couple days ago.

I actually took mine off and used a fine flat screwdriver to clean around the sides of the sensor enough to finish with brake kleen and a q-tip. Mine now reads 14.2 with KOEO.

Almost 6 PSI between EBP and MAP? And they're both wrong? Dude... I think it's very good that you discovered this. Unless you took your readings while visiting... say... Denver, your MAP is going to tell the PCM to set the fueling for a higher altitude. This will rob you of power, but you will have a clean burn. Your EBP says you are cruising down the freeway... with the engine off. I don't know what takes place when this happens, but I saw a significant loss in economy and soot buildup on the paint when mine did this. The lower MAP with EBPV active is not a shocker: The engine is still drawing air, but the turbine slows way down and is not making boost. With KOEO, EBP and MAP should read 14.4 at the Arch.

I'd be curious what symptoms you have been having, if you are aware of any at all. If you replace both, it would be nice if you shared the results of the change here. Yours is a dramatic case and we can all learn something from it.

Oh... it's funny when you posted the weather. My daughter called that day and I got the same report from her. "I know. Dad knows everything when it comes to his daughter". You helped me make her smile that day.

Tugly, Thx for your analysis. I need some time to digest it. My brain is kind of slow when it comes to logics. But anyway, I'm not expierencing any issues (at least anything I can tell) from driving. I'm going to order a new EBP sensor. However, looking at the MAP numbers, do you think that the MAP sensore is out or something else? with the Baro volt reads 4.57 (in red numbers), what does it tell us?

I'm going to dig into the map sensor and wiring tomorrow when it's a little warmer. It will be 8 degree tonight, high 60s yesterday and the day before. Which part of town does your daughter live, Tugly?

I was looking for the answer and I found 4.6 to 4.7 equal Sea Level, with the voltage lowering as the altitude rises. That looks good to me. She lives in Ballwin.
