Engine perch question
My plan is to find a set of replacement perches and install them eventually, but I want to be able to drive the truck prior to that. The engine is otherwise stock, and I'll monitor the stress and take it easy.
Will the second hole make the mount too structurally unsound, or am I being paranoid?

With out a picture I am just guessing what it looks like . So, maybe a large washer on the underside or weld a plate in and drill new holes. Should be okay for a short time ,but I would replace them as soon as you start driving it a lot. Hope that helps. JIM

In addition, I haven't been able to loosen/remove the third (lower, towards the front of the vehicle) bolt from the old motor mount to remove it. The top two eventually loosened with quite a bit of PB Breakfree. I'm not even quite sure how to get to it. Any suggestions?

4WD: 460's weren't available with 4WD until 1983. These parts will not work. You'll have to buy an aftermarket engine mount kit and a reverse sump pan, pickup tube and stud that attaches tube to the crank journal.
2WD: Find a 1973/79 F100/350 460 and get the following:
D3TZ-6028-A Right & D3TZ-6029-A Left .. Engine Supports aka towers, stands, perches.
D3TZ-6030-A Right & D3TZ-6031-A Left .. Brackets-These bolt to the block, the rubber insulators bolt to these, then to the supports.
2) D3TZ-6038-A .. Right/Left Front Rubber Insulators.
D3TZ-6A023-A .. Rear Engine Support, aka crossmember, bolts on / Same as 1973/76 F100/250 2WD & F350 360/390.
D3TZ-6068-C .. Rear Engine Rubber Insulator.

I am assuming this is a 2 wheel drive truck because you say you are going to find the replacement perches for the 460 ? You don't say so but you won't find factory ones for a 78 / 4x4 as it's been pointed out.
You can weld the holes shut and punch in new holes , but if it's just for a short time , then put a big washer there . But that is not a fix for the problem . I would just start looking for some replacements ,those may not have the engine at the right height . When i did a 79 F-100 2 wheel drive about three years ago I used some from a 79 F-150 super cab 2 wheel drive that i had as a work truck and scraped out.
