Hey guys,
On Monday, I ordered a battery tray to replace the one that has been slowly disintegrating in my F100. The tray arrived today from Dennis Carpenter and I am very pleased with the product. Anyway, my question to y'all is: is there anything that I can do to prevent this one from corroding away? Is there maybe a mat, an adhesive spray or something else that I could put in the bottom so this one does not end up like the last?
Thanks,
Scott
maybe paint it in bedliner? i think that would hold up.
or engine enamel, would be better than just regular paint at least.
cut out a piece of carpet or rug and "upholster" a piece of thin wood to lay in the bottom.
use a plastic battery box, would be like putting the battery into a tupperware.
use the felts underneath your terminals. new cars have what i call battery blankets. if you ever stop in a salvage yard you might find one that fits your battery in decent condition. usually a felt-like material.
mine had a piece of rubber sheet, not sure where to get more of it but that helped quite a bit.
The felts that go on battery posts really do help. I've tried nearly everything over the years to prevent cable corrosion, and they work better than anything else I've tried.
I'd powdercoat it. then order a piece of neoprene rubber from mcmastercarr.com and cut it to fit. They have stuff with adhesive back that works well. A 3/16" thick sheet of 60A durometer would be pretty much perfect.
Personally I am just making my battery boxes out of stainless.
