Battery cables corroding

How come my battery cables corrode so quickly? By quickly I mean I can clean them throughly on a Friday, and a week later there is corrosion on them again, enough to warrant cleaning them again.

I replaced the cables, and made sure they were making good contact. My battery in not a maintaince free (sealed battery) but it test out as good.

You might try some of those felt discs that slid over the terminals. Be sure the top of the battery is clean.

And don't forget to put a couple of big gobs of Vaseline on the posts and clamps. Don't be cheap with it. The more the better (within reason, of course). That should do wonders for your problem.

Good luck!

Tape a penny to the top of the battery.

You know those little drips of motor oil that are left over from the bottle when you are putting oil in the engine? A couple of these drips on the terminals everytime I change the oil seem to keep my battery terminals in good shape.
