hello yal, i just got a new 8 in. pioneer sub cuz ol one blew out i hooked it up to my factory amp and it dont seem like its pushing it very hard. was wondering if a guy can get a bigger amp to hook up without running new power wires and rcas and just using the harness thats already there, this s in a 04 f150
I don't think your factory amp is really made to power an aftermarket sub. I would get a aftermarket amp dedicated to running the sub. I can't really answer your wiring question though without looking at how things are hooked up.
Run new wire & get a mono amp to drive your sub. Get one that puts out whatever power your sub is rated for at least. A class D amp will draw less power & drive a sub well.
No, you cannot use the power wires from your factory amp, and there is no RCA's. Run a new power wire from thethe positive post of your battery, fusing >15" from the battery with an inline fuse. You are fusing the power wire here, not the amp. Anchor a ground (same gauge wire as the power) to tje floor pan (not a seat bolt) by sanding a spot till it is shiny and anchoring using a nut, bolt and star washer. Do you have an aftermarket HU? If not you will need a line output converter, if so run your sub out RCA's to you amp and a remote wire (blue wire in the HU's pigtail). If you decide to go forth with this, hit me up and I will help you set your gain and crossover so you will stop blowing subs.
