Hi All, I'm posting this for my buddy who owns a 2008 f-250 6.4 thats all stock except for a bully dog. He would like to know the best mods for best fuel milage , performance and reliability. I think he is running 33's as well ?.
What is wrong with the bully dog? And what is the best dpf kit to get/ and tuner. Sorry to ask. I have a 2008 f350 drw that came with the bully dog gt from a dealer ( go figure ) was thinking of doing the delete kit but not sure which one to get. I like the gt unit to monitor the engine I don't us it for power. Thanks. Be nice to me I don't know a whole lot about this 6.4 yet

I all you are doing is monitoring your vitals then it is ok.
I have the banks 6 gun for dpf on tunes.
Bully dog is not a clean tune to work with the dpf.
The "best" tuner to get is/will be debatable... If you want to keep the DPF on Senix can tell you about the Banks system. If you want DPF off & tuning either Spartan/HS/SCT are the "best". H&S will be harder to come by as of the EPA stuff going on, different folks tune on the livewire, such as matt@gearhead I believe (maybe he uses the minimax? Im not sure) and innovative tunes, etc.
Is it worth opening the intake and exhaust ?
and if he finds a good shop to remove the egr and dpf , with a good tune
what kind of milage can he look foward to.
I've read that the 6.4 can make great power when needed, and can greatly improve fuel milage when properly tuned.
He's in the Houston area, any recommendations on a shop that could direct him in the right direction.
I have a 08 Duper Duty I use the Edge Evaluation in economy mode and have added the AFE stage 2 cold air system and I average 14 on the hwy. I do still have the DPF and Cat,

Thanks for the info. New to all of this, Is there any way to turn off the regen and still use my Bully dog to monitor the truck. I would also like to know if you have to remove the DPF and cat if you just turn off the regen. I hope I am asking this right.

If you leave the dpf on without ever going thru a regen then you will clog it up.
so you must remove if you tune unless you use a dpf on tune..which then also means you will still have some regening.

That is kinda what I was think but wanted to make sure Thanks.
Has any one tried to remove the inside of the DPF (If it even can be done). Kinda like the old cat's on cars that you could cut a hole in the top and re install it to look like it was stock. Just wondering. I would like to keep it as stock as possible.
