I have a 2012 truck that the AC wasn't blowing cold air this summer so I took it in and they said nothing was wrong... Took back in and they replaced vent control...helped a little bit. Fall came and my windows fog up and really never clears up so I take it in and they said it is blowing hot air but I told them that isn't the problem but the moister in the cab is the problem. Any thoughts? I feel I'm getting the run around. Thanks
have you checked the pressure of your refrigerant? might have a leak or it just might be low? Mine has a leak, started this summer, had to recharge it a few days ago... now i have to find the leak. The defroster is almost useless without the ac working.
It's still under warranty and the dealership said no problem. I think the AC problem this summer and the defrost problem is related. Kinda of tired of taking it in. I have owned a 62, 69, 95, 01, 07 and have never had a problem till now. I can ask them if they checked if leaking but you would think they would if done so.
Just for grinns , get an independant to ck it out .If you have an issue , take it to the dealer , proof in hand .Have them make it right . Or take it to a different dealer .
You would think they would check it for leaks, but who knows. Not sure how much someone else would charge to check the A/C system, but you can get the refrigerant filling tool from auto zone and check the pressure yourself. You might have to buy one can of r134 with the tool though. Might be cheaper that way.
You can kind of check the compressor with out any tools. With the hood open start the engine with the heat and ac off.Look at the end of the compressor. The outer pulley will be turning but the center will not. Turn the defrost on and the center of the ac clutch should start turning. It has a magnetic clutch that engages it. If the center doesn't turn you have a problem.(possibly no freon). If the clutch engages and disengages while running it is probally low on freon. The ac system has a low pressure sensor that will shut the compressor off if it is low on freon.
The biggest problem with these new AC systems is that they are all computer controlled. I complained about the AC performance in my 2010 truck enough that the dealer performed two PCM reflashes in it with moderate improvement each time. The last time I took it in, on the way to pick it up I rode in my son's 2011 F-150 and checked his AC outlet temps. On the ride home in my truck, the outlet temps were two degrees cooler than my son's. It still is not perfect, but more livable now.
