Got a call from a fellow looking to tow a 60s dodge 250 kms. now, ive only really done crappy 500$ cars before for customers, and cars for friends, but never something nice. Im not scared of the distance, its not far at all, but I am scared that its a nice vintage automobile. Now i just advertise myself on kijiji, (local classifieds), saying i do small moves, scrap runs etc and can tow your trailer or tow a vehicle.
Im assuming it would be a wise idea to get some type of insurance for this tow job of the 60s dodge. Can I get it for just a day? do i use my regular company? how much and what type of insurance? I dont do vehicle tows often enough to justify buying insurance for a year.
Insurance companies will issue a one time special use policy.
However there will be several requirements and a stiff fee for it.
Commercial hauling is a highly regulated industry.
The liabilities involved are breathtaking.
If you are hauling for hire and are not registered and insured you are risking your entire future.
People wonder at the rates we charge for towing without knowing the overhead that we carry in order to be covered.
We currently have in excess of $5,000,000.00 coverage.
