insurance
ive been looking into insurance as my truck is getting closer and closer to be road worthy. few ? what is comprehensive,rental, collision, and roadside insurance? im pretty sure just wanted to check and make sure

MY Explanation
Comprehensive covers:Fire, Theft,Vandalism & Glass
Rental coverage :allows you to a rental vehicle if your vehicle is damaged in an collision
Collision coverage is you covering your OWN vehicle in case you have a single vehicle collision like a rollover,etc (a deductible is charged as well ie:$500)
Roadside assistance is a coverage for towing,flats,etc.(I've never heard of this coverage by an insurance co)

State Farm offers towing(road side assistance) for a very reasonable price. I think I paid $6 for it every 6 months. You pay the tow truck driver, send your broker the receipt, and they'll cut you a check. I got my last check within two days.

Many companies now offer "Roadside Assistance" bundled in their auto policies.
Comprehensive is: "Everything except collision with a fixed object or collision another vehicle." They also exclude "maintenance, inherent vice, wear and tear", etc. So, Comprehensive would also cover - flood, hitting an animal, falling objects, cigarette burns in the seat, mudslides, and a lot of other things you may not be able to imagine....
Keep in mind that your parked car which is struck by an unknown hit and run driver is a COLLISION!

I do not know about your state, but it is required that we in AZ have under/no insurance coverage. This way if someone wipes us out and has not insurance or a drivers licence we can get help. Plus then the insurance company goes after them.
One word on a deductable. Make sure you do not put it too high to have a low monthly payment. That is what you will be out if there is a major accident. IMHO

Find a good insurance broker who represents multiple lines of coverage and work with them. I was one for 10 years and feel they can put the needs of their customer, YOU better than a captive agent (only work with 1 company).
