I went to start my truck yesterday and I didn't have any clutch pedal. It had been very cold and by cold I mean 2 degrees. I thought it might be frozen so I let the truck idle for 30 minutes and nothing happened. So then I put it in the garage and put a salamander under the truck to thaw it out, after 30 minutes of that it still wasn't working. I did some research and found it was most likely my slave cylinder. I guess my question is are there any things I need to know or special tools that will help me along, thanks.
You may know this requires the removal of the transmission. I would make sure the slave cylinder is blown first. Have you checked the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder? Don't forget to remove the rubber cup under the cap. Add only dot 3 brake fluid.
I am prepared to drop the transmission, I did check the fluid level and it was good but I did not know there was a cup in the reservoir, will check that.
