I'm getting a P2099 from my scangauge II and also seeing the check engine light on the dash. I looked up the code and it shows turbo underboost. My truck seems to be perfectly fine. It accelerates just as it did before the light. I still dont like to see the check engine light on, and if I clear the code it immediately comes back. Do I have a faulty sensor somewhere thats reporting incorrectly?
p2099 is post catalist system too lean bank 2 according to the 2007 Ford revised DTC charts.
I may be wrong but I do not remember seeing a o2 sensor on a 06 6.0ltr.
a 08 on the other hand has a sensor that if bad CAN will not allow it to start.
May be a scanne hiccup and is showing a gaser code. They do that sometimes.
Well now that that is cleared up. LOL The EBP sensor seldom fails but it clogs up pretty easy. Clean sensor with electrical cleaner and blow back thru the tube with air.
Footnote; A stuck open EGR can also cause this when it allows too much dead air into the air fuel mix throws all the calculations sideways. Or so i been told.
I clean the EGR with every fuel filter change and I'm just a couple of thousand a way from that, so that will definatly be something to check. I will also look at the sensor you mention.
Could a leaking cac tube also cause an issue? I've noticed a strange "air" noise that comes from under the hood sometimes and I havent found its source yet, but I did see a you tube video where they mention to check the cac tubes.
Cac tube and boot leaks are a common source also for underboost but also leaks at ehaust flanges, uppipes and cracks in the y-pipe bellows. Anything that can affect the flow of air to and thru the turbo. Includeing low oil pressure to the vgt solenoid, clogs leaks etc.
