Yes it is. I install Ford remote start systems at work and the systems for the cars (Fusion, Focus, C-Maxx) if you open any door the engine shuts down.

Im glad this is not the case on the truck lines...
My 2011 F150 I can unlock, get in, turn the key on and go. During remote start it does disable most accessories like radio, dash computer etc.
On My 2010 Expedition (we had the factory system added) I looked online and reprogrammed it to work the same. Factory programmed it to go dead and require a restart before you could drive.
Well the damn thing did it to me again. It was 5 degrees out this morning and i tried to remote start it and it just honks at me. I hadent moved/touched the keys since i parked it the night before.
Went out in the cold, cylcled the key once and then got back out and remote started just fine.

yup! and if you accidently forget or not quite hit the key remote door unlock enough times for the passenger door, DO NOT HIT THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR ARM REST!!! gf's door didnt open and i hit the unlock on my sid and it instantly shut down and went into alarm and disable mode! had to put the key in to stop it!

I just added the two way remote starter to my 2010 Expedition. How do I re-program it so it does NOT shut off when I open the door. It seems ridiculous to me to shut it off only to re-start it. If I can't reprogram it, it's coming out.

From a thread in the Expedition part of this forum.....
I took my new 2011 to the dealer as this is definitely not the way a remote start should work. They said the same as others have posted on this site. Can't be changed...
Well it can. Doing so will bypass the MyKey Feature of the used key. So if you are concerned about it you can set the remote start key to a restricted key. This will leave the car in the restricted mode when it is started using MyKey.
Here is the way to change it: This was posted by another user (Mustang46) on another forum.

It is easily programmed to change this behavior. You can do it at home. You can change the run time to 15 minutes and turn off the horn chirps at start, if you want.
To change the stop engine "feature", you need to set option 7 in Bank 2...
This apparently is the supplier of the Ford remote start systems. Just create a Login and then click Ford at the top of the page. The PDF that you are looking for is titled
'PROGRAMMING - GEN2 BRONZE WITH OR WITHOUT "MYKEY"'. It details the programming process.
Interestingly, there is also a document titled 'NEW 2010 MODEL YEAR SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS FOR MYKE', which is a memo to dealers stating not to reprogram this for customers even if they complain about the issue in this thread...
It only takes 4-5 minutes to do this.
The button you need to get into programming mode is located under your dash and is taped under there. Mine was close to the OBDC jack.
I'm not seeing that document you're referencing. I see the notice explaining not to modify it, but I'm not finding the directions on how I can change it. Do you have it and can email it to me or do you know the steps?

edit:
I think I found it
If not let me know... I think I left a copy in the Expy.
