My guess would be a HPO oil leak, that is usually the problem on a hot no start/ hard start. Late 04 to 07 have known issues with standpipes and dummy plugs and 05 to 07 have known issues with the STC fitting.

You really do need some gauges that will read live data so you can diagnose problems with your truck, scan gauge II, edge insight or one of the mobile apps dash boss for IOS and torque for android.

I have edge evolution with gauges but nothing comes up in diagnostics. I did see what appeared to be oil on top of motor and now that I think about it it has been getting harder to start cranks more lately to fire and now stopped I guess I better check for oil fitting is it an expensive fix. If I understand correctly if hpo is leaking truck will not fire at all? Thanks for the help towing it tomorrow to garage but like to keep my eye on them plus when you guys give me info I can ACT like I know a little.

If the leak isn't bad enough it will still run. What is the ICP while you are cranking when it won't start? It needs to be above 500 to start.

Not trying to be dumb but I'm a newbe I will have to look in the edge to see if it reads icp. I noticed about a week ago was getting harder to start but after firing up ran great started right up. Today went to two places and fired up nice both times went into third store and came back out cranked like hell but not a putt or nothing never happened before. Like I said I did see more wet oil on top of motor than usual it Always leaked a little but not bad maybe it gave out. Will have to see are sct fittings expensive to replace?

Usually with the hot long crank/no start if you let it sit and cool long enough the oil thicken back up and it will start, but eventually the leak gets bad enough and it won't start

Gotcha I let it sit for couple hours and put stuff in tank for gelling and water went back and tried again no go only hit a high of 17 today.since I don't usually run down past 1/4 tank and it sat in low temps if the majority of the fuel gelled leaving me with just enough to get a couple miles then froze up? Garage owner wants to put it inside tomorrow with heat and see it it starts. I noticed when I turn key on I hear a buzzing that usually stops before cranking but runs longer now could that be fuel pump trying for fuel.?

But it started cold fine and after you got it warm it wouldn't start so I would have to say if the fuel had gelled it probably wouldn't have started in the first place and if it had it probably would have died soon after
