Engine Hours vs Miles

So, I was playing with the dash display on my 2005 yesterday and noticed that it shows 3220 engine hours for the 136,900 miles.

Does that seem high, low, or normal?

Just curious....

So you have 42.5mile/hour. From what I've read and been told, this is normal. Your truck average a little over 17K/year and that is normal also.

It's just there as an alternative maintenance tracking system for vehicles that see lots of slow or stationary use; ambulances, PTO's, trucks with lifts, public transit, delivery, etc. There's a conversion of hours to miles, 1 hour is 25 miles according to at least one Ford publication. Averagine 42mph only means you spend more time on the highway than in traffic, and that you're probalby on the correct maintenance schedule using mileage.

John Deere uses 30 miles per hour. The service intervals on a machine are 250 hours which equals 7500 miles

engine hours are a bit useful when buying a used truck - you can at least get a guess if they really are all "highway miles"
