So today I was driving down the highway and my engine shut off.no sputter or any thing I had just filled the tank. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. It's been hitting a dead spot at around 3000 rpm like its not getting enough fuel or something. Right now I'm thinking it's an ipr valve but would like to know if anyone has had a similar issue and if so what was the cause and how did you fix it
Whatcha have for gauges? Need to see what the oil pressure is doing , like IPR, ICP ,ICPV
everything was read8ng normal when this happened. I also forgot to mention that I have had some long cranks every once in a while, it'll crank for about 4 or 5 seconds and then start
On the dash gauges? If so then pay no attention to those all but fuel and a wrench light, your going to need a Real set of gauges to monitor, like Scan Gauge, I phone app, dash boss etc, what year was the truck?

What year is your truck? Hitting a dead spot at 3000 like its losing power makes me think the HPOP is on its way out.

Just had the HPOP replaced if it is going out again then there would definitely be some sort of cause for that replaced the ipr valve and still no start looked at the codes and one said vin mismatch and the other said something about injection pressure being low so it could be an ipc issue or maybe an injector
Take a look at the ICP it's located on the passenger rocker cover, look for oil out the connection side, also with truck running you can do a pull test , right at the grey clip tends to short out giving a wack reading and trying to default, wouldn't be a bad idea to pull the IPR and check on the screen, any DTC Codes numbers would be helpful .
A Scan Gauge would tell you everything , do you know anybody that has such a tool ? Auto Zone for around 160 you can get them for less on line , other wise lots of other chooses , just don't get. Action has to be OBD II can sef compliant.
when the hpop was done... and the 06' isn't one of those that fail often... did they do the upgraded STC fitting, dummy plugs or standpipes? HPOPs have been known to be bad out of the box, wouldn't be the first. Yours is getting low pressure because of something... how about injector leaking.
I'd air test the truck, that will tell you if its an injector, STC, HPOP, dummy plug or something other. Could be as simple as a pinched o-ring.
Did you pull the IPR to check the screen or something fouling the valve?
Sorry forgot a few things as now you have my Brain working, lol need to look and see if the oil cap is tall or short, After Market oil caps with after market filters will do this , the reason you say$$$ no it lets the pressure loose , meaning it won't push the filter down to build pressure at the bottom of the oil stand pipe, so it hangs up letting oil by pass maybe yours at 3000 rpm hangs open , double check this, nothing but OEM Cap and oil/ fuel Filter
