Engine life

I hear alot of people questioning the mileage of these trucks.

What is the life span of these trucks??

Well I can't speak for any further than 20k miles. That is how many I have on mine now and all of them are problem free miles!

So so far we at least know the 6.4 is good for 20k, I am sure someone with higher miles will chime in!

42K on mine. We have one member here who traded up to a 2011. He towed 90% or with his. I think he had over 150K. No real issues.

There are several in the 80-90K range.

We've got 76K on ours and according to the Oasis it hasn't had any issues. There have been a few show up with 150K on them already for sale.

96K. Only problems have been with the DPF. Isn't there someone on here with 170K on his? I think he still has it and just got a 2011 as well.

Mine had 142k/kms I believe when I bought it and I put 20k on it when I owned it, I did blackstone reports on it and what showed was not pretty it so I found a new crate 6.4 and had it put in on my own dime complete cause I love the truck. Still have the old one in the shop. Great truck will never sell always puts a smile on my face when I drive it.

I had 153,700 miles on mine when I traded it in. I strongly believe that the motor was good for at least another 100K. The truck was solid too, no worries on the brakes/bearings/ball joints. Heck, I still had the original brake pads on it when I traded it in.

The coolant system is what got me. After several radiators I knew that keeping the truck was not going to be enjoyable, after the 4th one I figured that the problem was never going to be fixed. Then, when the thermostats threw a code, they were stuck open, I decided to get serious about the new truck ('11).

We all have different experiences and I don't think anyone should expect my particular set of problems should be "the rule". Like I said, the engine and the truck were fantastic. Even the DPF was in good shape after all those hours/miles on it.

I had 335,000 mine when I lost compresstion in 2 cylinders with that many miles the ford tech said best thing to do is replace hole motor they wanted $20,000.00 for motor and to put it in .I ended up buying a crate motor of line and put in my self .But before that I had the high presure fuel pump replaced at 140,000 miles and it started doing the same thing again at 290,000 miles

I have 256,000 miles on a 4.0 Ranger and still runs strong, so I dont see any reason why my 6.4 can,t best that by another 100,000
