programmer question

If you use a programmer on your truck, does the programmer stay plugged in? If not, how can you tell if a truck has been messed with. I am asking because I bought a truck that feels awfully strong. I plan on getting a superchips 1705 to clear codes and put a tune in it. If the truck currently has a tune in it, will the superchips programmer clear that? I know the truck does not have a chip in it because I pulled the parking brake assembly and looked.

Please advise,

Tim

The edge programmer does stay plugged in but others don't.

If you get a SC 1705 and the truck does have a tune on it the 1705 will save it as your stock tune

Depends... If the programmer is also a monitor it will stay plugged in. If it is just for programming, it gets removed after installing the tune.

If it currently has a tune in it, the new programmer will not clear it. It will save the current calibration as your "stock" file like stated above.
