I thought I would start some informitive Info, the degus bottle was full of what I call corrosion I have seen a lot of threads of oil cooler blockage by the same looking crud , so degus bottle was out of the truck and got a good cleaning ,do we need to do this alittle more often , my thinking would be YES ,with doing a coolent flush to the system I dont think is enough, the degus after the flush plastic was still cloudy,my flush today I can see thru it almost, but alot better and no crud floating around,so what we put in must go down and curculate in the system and thru the coolers , also in my findings at the big hose outlet look inside the build up in the 3/4 brass tube its hard buildup ,how much does the V-c9 really cut through.
I have been meaning to clean mine too (just the bottle). Just curious as to what you used to clean it out? I always thought some hot water with a little IronOut would do the trick...
When I first got my truck, I noticed a layer of black crud laying in the bottom of the tank.
I wanted it out of there. Don't know what it was, but, it was tough to get out.
I have a tool to put on my hose that is used to blow out my Hot water heater in my travel trailer.
That came in handy for getting that crud out of the tank. Simple Green and very hot water didn't touch it. Only high pressure on the water did the trick.
I dont know if this is recommended but goo gone and hot water, shook the begebees out of her, did it 3 times then simple green and hot water a few times, then just turned the hose on and flushed for about ten minutes,I would tip the degus top to bottom untill allwater looked clear no floaties
10-4. I'll give it a try whenever I get to pulling that thing off. Mine looks about like what amdriven2liv descibed. Scared me the first time I saw it from the outside untill I looked straight down into the bottle from above with the cap off and realized the coolant was nice and clear.
This is what I thought too nice and clear wait till you start to cleaner out large scales of muck, from areas you cant see it just flows out breaks loose and this is why I did so many treatments.now Im wondering what the cooler looks like.
Had mine out for FICM repair. Lots of crud. Not really any iron. Mostly a gooey type substance in tank and just dirty. Flushed with hot water, soaked overnight in a hot water & simple green solution. Flushed again with hot water. Not perfect but a huge improvement. I think the yellow gooey substance was the ford coolant braking down. Doing a complete flush myself in the next month with VC9, etc to try and clean up engine and oil cooler. Dealers flush 3 months ago probably partially plugged up oil cooler, so more work in future.
Yeah I didn't mention IronOut thinking there was iron in there...should have clarified that. It has worked pretty good for me before on some other things around the house/garage. Either way....certainly seems like it would be worth the effort to get it cleaned out...better than $60-80 for a new one.
I guess what Im looking for would be , if we do our flush to the motor, and we see stuff 2 weeks 1month later in the degus with out pulling , Then next flush we pull degus wash separetly and then do the motor to ensure all the gunk dosent flow into the motor,Amsdriven filter clogged by? sand or sand like gunk? thinking back flow of coolent as most filters go one direction of flow, am I thinking out of the box here or is doing the full degus flush every so often not a bad idea, and if ford gold coolent is causing this break down .p.s. I put a new oem cap on .Any thoughts on this and still would like others with the filters to comment Thanks
the health of the coolers starts with clean coolent and the right oil, over the time, heat and cold factor / break down of each creates this muck , there for degus flush would be a great thing because of build up and particles that you can see , but you cant see the coolers untill replacement.still need to know about these filters , come on guys .
