That was developed at Area 51.
It is a government tracking device to
Track oversized SUVs, corelating these trucks
To the demise of the ozone layer.
From some of the other threads Scott linked to in his post. Let the fun begin...again:

Can you tell we answer this question all the time?
Yeah Thanks Stewart, I figured that question had been asked and answered a lot on here already. But I honestly had no idea what to search for. It has been a long and frustrating day already.
The OP laughed a lot but never got an answer. They are to dampen vibrations. The front of the driveshaft has the spline connection outside of the transfer case tail housing and the u-joint is there also on a one piece drive shaft so they tightened up the spline clearances (which caused binding) and added these weights for added assurance........no joke.
Ok, I need to ask... Why are these on my 2000 Ex V10, but not on my 2005 Ex Diesel?
Can I pull them off without hurting anything?
They aren't on my 2002 F350 either.
Thanks!
Garry
You can if you have no vibration problems afterwards. Just pay close attention for any vibrations at different speeds and save them in case you need them if a vibration develops. They probably put them on the problem trucks just for good measure.

Because those are different trucks with different vibration characteristics.
If you remove the vibration dampers do so at your own risk. You don't understand why they are there and they may be there to prevent something from cracking from a vibration you may not be able to feel while driving.

Thank you, however my question was answered in the links that Stewart sent me.
Out of all seriousness it's not a CIA or FBI tracker, come on guys. It's a micro-chip from Mother Russia. They're rising up again and wants, no NEEDS to know where all of us are since they know were the ones who are really packin
