I have a 95 F-150 and thinking about putting headers on it simply for the sound. The last time I put headers on a straight six was a long time ago on a 66 stang sprint 200. It wasn't worth the time or effort and hardly sounded any differant. Does antbody have advise for headers on a 4.9? Something tells me it is still a waste of time...
The stock EFI exhaust manifolds flow just as well as most aftermarket headers, and on a stock motor you'll actually lose power from a header. The stock system is already two banks of three into 2.5" collectors. You'd be better served by removing the three cats you have now and replacing them with one single high flow unit. That will make it louder and let the engine breath a little better.

X2 The mythical 10%+ gains from headers are almost always just that, myths. Plus, with a header, you end up installing a part which is much more prone to failure.
