yes, WIF = water in fuel

but I would jump to any conclusions about anything yet...let's hear the diagnosis from the tech and go from there.

I will post as thing progress. Spoke with dealer today who said they were hoping to do further diagnosis next Wednesday. Luckily I have a couple vehicles I can use while the SD is in the shop.

Thanks for the input so far.

Did the diesel tech look at it at all before going on vacation? If they don't have one there to diagnose I'm curious how the service advisor came up with a HPFP failure.

For some reason I thought the diesel technician was out the next week but was incorrect. In fact he is there but the Service Rep was explaining he would not likely get to the truck to start the repairs for a week. It was the diesel tech that did the computer diagnosis yesterday.

I'm hoping it will be a case of "under promising and over delivering" on the time estimate. Nonetheless for me I will expect it will take several weeks.

It seems that all of the hpfp issues seem to happen in the winter. Last winter that was all you would read about on here and then none that I remember all summer or fall. Now we are in the middle of winter and another issue. I wonder if it is fuel related or possibly different tolerances inside the pump due to the cold? Definitely starting to see a pattern.
