what scanner?
What is the recommended scanner to buy? My check engine light came on today and I want to see what it is. Nothing seems different; still runs and drives as normal.

Thanks for the info. My next question is; the truck is stock, can a programmer/tuner check and clear codes? If so, which one should I get? Or do I NEED a scanner AND a tuner?

The only programmer that i'd trusted to not fry the PCM unlike the Edge is the superchip 1705 I ran one for 5 years with no issues. It will tune and re codes. It will not read live data
