check engine light on
97 f150 5.4 auto 4X4
tonite will driving home the truck started running rough
like it was missing , then the check engine light came on,
thought i smelled a strange odor, temp gauge was fine and
battery gauge was okay too, i am going to have it scanned
tomorrow, but does anyone have any clue what might be the
problem? sensors or plug coil? thanks

Most vehicles when they reach a certain mileage, the check engine light comes on. My friends Crown Vic Police Car check engine light came on for no reason, and it began to run kinda sluggish. As for me, i have a 99 f150, with 50k miles and the light has never came on. Hope this helps

The light can come on for many different reasons, you need to scan it an post the code that caused the light to come on. Someone will be able to help. Sonds like one of the cylinders might be missing but we need the code.
