The only way it can blow off is if there is pressure when there should be vacuum. Pressure would be an indication the exhaust gases are passing through the valve and to the vacuum port. To me it sounds like you just need a new valve.

It's not the EGR Valve unless the valve was open and you had a backfire through the intake.
It's most likely excessive back pressure in the exhaust, usually caused by a blockage or restriction in the exhaust. A clogged converter is a common cause.

If its just the larger hose that keeps coming off the DPFE, the metering orifice within the EGR tube might be plugged, but more likely its as projectSHO89 suggested: a clogged exhaust system.
