I know people usually put blow off valves on sti's or usually turboed imports, but would it be possible to put a BOV on a normal vehicle, and if you did put one in, would it replace the egr valve?
A pop off valve's purpose is to relieve excess pressure in the intake manifold. Unless your vehicle has forced induction there is no purpose for the valve; since the max pressure that can be acheived in the intake would be atmospheric pressure.
You could put one on but it would never, "pop off", or work.
The egr valve opens from ecu control to allow spent exaust gasses to be reintroduced into the intake to re-burn them. Allowing for cleaner emissions and "better" fuel mileage.
The two systems don't mix and installing a BOV in place of the egr would simply set off the check engine light and bypass the egr system. And it would require alot of shade treeing to acomplish this.
