A previous owner converted to floor shift and added power steering. They replaced the shift collar up to steering wheel with a late model version. I don't know the year.
If I can locate the stock shift collar (red) is it possible to use it with the power steering? Did they make a stock PS version?
I'm new, but I have a picture if I can figure out how to post.
I think you would be advised to get a "on the tree" shift column that fits a PS truck. Or you could buy a new column from Ididit or Flaming river. I am assuming your truck has an automatic transmission? You can also retro fit a Tilt column from a later model Ford truck. If you have a stick transmission you may have to live with the floor shifter. IMHO!
I have a complete column shift collar and all. I bought another and had it powder coated before I replaced mine with it. You would need to replace all the wear parts in it, but it should work fine. If you want it, it is yours for the shipping costs.

Welcome to FTE
You're going to need a entire steering column...if you want to go back to original. The one in your truck has been cut down and modified. Black tube on column has nothing to do with P/S.
I looked at the pic in your album, I know what the upper portion of the steering column is from due to its 3 spoke steering wheel.
Take a dead-on pic of the steering wheel and post it in your album as I need to see the emblem. Parts could be from a car or truck.
And, you may not want to change the column. Grasp the wheel with your right hand, then gently press the T/S handle forward with your left. BOING! If tilt wheel present!
btw: Is the accelerator pedal bolted to the floor? If so, your truck is a 1965, not a 1966. Some late 1965's, all 1966's had a suspended accelerator pedal.

1978/79 to be specific. But...it may not be necessary after the OP presses the T/S handle forward. When was the optional 3 spoke "Sport" steering wheel available? Did you say 1978/79?
Thanks, that would be awesome! My email is erik.luckau@aes.com if you want to send me details for covering the shipping! I have to at least throw in a six pack or I wouldn't be able to live with myself!
NumberDummy-- I'll try the tilt test and get the next photo this weekend. My brother-in-law "had to" borrow the truck!
William-- are you suggesting a later model PS column because some of the components inside the column and from shift collar to steering wheel affect PS? I was under the impression that PS components started at the gear box and down? I am total novice so there is a good chance I am wrong!
I was able to add a picture of the outside of the truck in my album entitled Lawspawn--Does anyone recognize the wheels on the truck and have any idea what I could get for the wheels and tires on ebay?
I also added a photo I found of the original red steering rig--this is what I'd like to return to if possible!
I double checked, but I don't have a direct on shot of the wheel marker, I'll have to take a new photo when I get the truck back.
If this is the outside of your truck, I would say you have a 66 maybe a late 65. I see Ibeams and a 66 grille.
As for the inside you have two different pictures. This is the one I think is yours.
Wheels are aftermarket. Ford didn't offer styled steel or aluminum wheels until 1977 for F100/150's. These will bolt right on to 1965/76's.
1977/96: The genuine styled Ford wheels hubcaps (plastic chrome or black) are retained to the wheel by 3 nylon or steel anchors that are hand pressed into the wheel.
Then either 3 chrome or black screws thread into the anchors, expanding them.

Accelerator pedal bolted to the floor: 1965 F100/250 2WD before serial number 696,001.
Suspended accelerator pedal: 1965 F100/250 2WD from serial number 696,001 & 1966 F100/250 2WD
Custom Cab door handle guards were probably added by a previous owner, as FoMoCo did not factory install them when side mouldings were present.
Either side mouldings were installed, or door handle guards were installed, not both.
NumberDummy, Your information is extremely helpful. I guess I must have a '65 ** based on the gas pedal.
Is it possilbe to convert to the hanging pedal? If you can find the parts.
I placed two direct on photos of the steering wheel: D7OZ-3649-B Horn Button Emblem
If I wanted to change to regular door handles, could I swap out or has the body been cut to install these?
3 spoke "Sport" steering wheels were optional for 1977/79 Passenger Cars & 1978/79 F100/350's, Bronco's and Econolines, but used different emblems on the horn button.
Upper column parts are from a 1977/79 LTD II (not an LTD!)/Ranchero/Cougar/Thunderbird / 1978/79 F100/350's, Bronco's & Econolines used D8TZ-3649-A ~ Ford Blue Oval emblem
Why would someone cut the original column then add these parts? Cheap way of getting a tilt wheel, I would guess. Why else would someone bother?
The door handle buttons themselves are longer with the Custom Cab door handle guards, which are desirable and have been reproduced. I'd leave them in place, otherwise you'd have to replace the buttons.
