Column shift changed to floor

So the PO of my truck had put in a C-6 auto tranny with a floor shifter in. It used to be a manual shift on the column. The column shifter has been removed, but there is still the hole protruding out of the column where it used to be. Does anyone know where I can get or how to make a replacement collar that I could use there instead of having the whole? It's a 66 F100 BTW.

This may not be the solution you are looking for but I just cut a piece of 20 gauge sheet metal about 1" x 1" square, bent it to match the curve of the collar, painted it to match the column and glued it in place over the hole using an epoxy adhesive, you hardly even see it.

You guys might be talking apples and oranges just a little bit. The OP likely has a collar with the protuberance on the side. In the middle of the protuberance is a hole where the shift handle used to attach. Thus the hole is not the shape of the collar but more the shape of the protuberance.

Your 1"x1" patch shaped to the contour of the collar just makes me think you've got a different situation. Maybe not.

The automatic and column shift collars have a base number of 7228 while the floor shift collars seem to have a base number of 3790 (Steering column tube flange extension).

Could be wrong but that's what I'm seeing so far.

Upon further thought you are right, I replaced my column with a 1977 when I did the power steering swap, sold my old column so I can't compare, sorry for the confusion on this one.

The collar off a 4 speed truck will interchange.

You will need about 3 hands with 6 fingers each, or a decent manual, to do the conversion. Nothing to fabricate or modify, just a good manual, a dose of common sense and a large helping of patience.

I have done the swap many times on many different trucks.
