Ok
So yesterday I noticed my coolant was leaking from behind my crankshaft pulley. I cant see under the waterpump pulley but I am thinking there is a weep hole there and it has started to leak (about 20 drops a min.) indicating my waterpump has gone bad. Does anyone have any suggestions? If I do have to replace it I will do a thread on how to replace it beacuse I couldnt find one.
Water pump is pretty easy, just be careful not to strip stuff. Yours is still good, the seal just went out of it, it sounds like, however in this day and age you must replace. Good time to do a new thermostat too and or a coolant flush.
it shouldn't be too hard once you get yourself a suitable fan clutch wrench. oreilly has a whole set of different sizes you can borrow as a set. the ones that are sold as being for ford, don't fit. one time when that wrench wasn't available, i got it off using a vise grip style chain wrench i bought at harbor freight. leaving the belts tight, i wrapped that sucker around it and locked it down tight, then took my hammer and beat it till it came loose.
once thats done, remove all the belts and get into it. i haven't done it myself, so i won't try to give you too much more detail
If you have an air hammer you can put it on the edge of one of the flats, leave the belts on, and it will take that fan right off no questions asked. Just be careful not to accidentally hit the radiator the few times it slips off the big nut. That's how I have done every threaded fan for the last 10 years. Working in garages all my life, that's a lot Never failed yet.

this works if you're smart about it. i worked on one that some idiot had attempted to do that wrong, and instead pounded straight down on the center of it, making it one helluva locknut. this technique requires the inteligence to hit the edge with the air chisel to make it unscrew. not hard, but i've seen it done wrong
I built this out of some 1/4" steel I had laying around it works awesome it is about 2' long, really easy to make just used a cutting wheel and a vaneer caliper. the angled piece you just put one of the bolts for the fan in the hole. pull opposite ways and wahlah.
Thank you, great write up way better than I could do.

I will be flushing again and replacing coolant and installing new thermostat. I dont have the luxury of using water to flush the system as I am in Kodiak AK and its cold but I will do my best to get a good flush on it. You are probably right about the pump gasket leaking but I dont want to take it back off in 20,000 miles beacuse the pump goes so i will just replace it. I got rear-ended the day before the pump and my power steering high pessure hose started leaking no idea how it happened but Im guessing it is related beacuse it went from no drips to a huge puddle under my pickup.

Yeah I've read it on the fan shroud like 10,000 times Im sure it is left hand threads.

i'm pretty sure he was referring to the shaft seal not the gasket. but i've never seen the water pump shaft seal sold as a separate item. i agree with you that a new water pump is the right answer.
Be careful when taking pump off of seperation plate/ crankcase cover/ piece of metal the water pump is sealed up against, to not break the gasket between the plate and the engine block... I did it huge PITA! I had to remove IP, half of the turbo kit, harmonic balancer, radiator, "f"ed up the oilpan gasket, need new crankshaft seal... dont do it!
