OK, I am tired of this. As I drive down the road, when I hit bumps (even small bumps) the back tires swing left and right, sometimes as much as a foot.
It is a '99 Ranger XLT with 235/70/15's
Shocks are probably factory ( bought it in Dec. 2002).
I put Bilsteins on my '96 B4000 and it helped, but didn't cure my problem. My truck drives great on smooth roads, and the Bilsteins even improved this some, but hit a bump and I'm all over the road... seems like the suspension fights itself. I think its design since I've always noticed this problem.
Lately though, I've had an obvious noise under the passenger seat that was diagnosed as a bushing gone bad. They said that it would not affect handling or tire wear, but I'm wondering what the arm and bushings purpose is... maybe cross flex that the truck seems prone to... my terminology might not be correct but if someone can shed more light on this I'd like to hear the answer too.
Yep that's it. Now about the looseness in the front end. That will help the seeming shift from side to side? How hard is it to replace? Jack all four wheels up can I get to it readily? Shop wants about $350!
