I know this strays a bit off topic, but I couldn't resist sharing a couple of images of the newest tool I just bought. I've been wanting to do this for years, but just never could shove the cash in this direction, until now. I know that some may think that I'm foolish, but that goes without saying, and I will NOT argue over opinions on the matter.
Anyway... I'm going to be responsible with my choice, and like always, safety is my single largest concern... that for me, my family, and for others.
not really a fan of pistols, but have been after a Ruger SR-22 for plinking. should have gotten that Kel-Tec before it was discontinued.... one of these days.
OT on the OT, but in case someone hasn't heard, right now you can upgrade NRA membership to life for $300 versus the regular $1000 price. Just call the membership number.

Sorry, Travis, but that is NOT OT from the original OT... it is definitely integral to the issue at hand. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Yeah... I've spent several years researching and considering this purchase, and up until very recently had decided to go with the newer XDm. However, my recent research indicated that even the "m" version has some minor trigger issues, so I decided that if I was going to do a trigger job regardless, I would just go the cheaper route and do it on an XD. I really wanted to secure the higher capacity magazines now in the event that limitations come down the road. Now I just need to order the PRP trigger kit and get it setup before I start going to the range... I'd rather start with the upgraded trigger as opposed to beginning to get used to the sloppy stock setup and then have to transition to the upgrade later.
Ultimately, I plan on waiting for the newer XDS to come out in the .40 caliber, and will go that route for personal carry... mag capacity won't be an issue on the "S", so it should be readily available for some years, once it comes out (last report I saw indicated late first quarter or early second quarter this year).

A friend sent me an email about it, not sure but seems like something called the Tom Grisham foundation is paying half of the current $600 special (unverified). Google turned up a bunch of threads on gun forums about this deal . The number in the email was 1-888-678-7894. I called that number and they lady answered with "would you like to upgrade your NRA membership to life for $300 today?" I decided to call the main number (1-877-NRA-2000). She upgraded me no problem and confirmed that the other number was legit, said they set up various numbers for specific specials. I've also seen that another life can sponsor the deal but I found the sponsorship to be unnecessary. I think this upgrade deal is only available to current annual members.
If anyone wants to do the $300 life deal through the web (nra-2013.org) I can provide the info needed for that method via PM, just send me one and I'll reply with the info.
.40 Glock and wife has a 9mm conceal Glock... leaving the longarms out of it. The conversation between the bad guy(s) and us would be by way of smoke signals.
I have an XD 9mm but not the bi-tone. Very sharp weapon. Hope you get in lots of practice time. I plan to pick up a .380 for the wife and maybe one just like what you have. I also need to get going with reloading. I probably have 2000+ 9mm, 1000+ .223, 500+ 12ga, and various .45, .40 as well.
