Just curious to see what the general thoughts are out there. I have had my 6.7 for almost 2 and half years now have about 33k on it. I had some 4x4 issues not engaging but I think I have gotten that taken care of, other than that not a single problem.
My question is I have started thinking about this DPF life span of about 150k, is anyone else worried about it? And what your plans are when you get to that mileage and may or may not see issues with emissions equipment?
Not worried. It is what it is. I remember all the talk in the mid 70's about those "expensive" catalytic converters that contained platinum "the world's most expensive metal". I'm not sure we became adapted to it, or if it turned out to be a non-issue.
Also, I don't believe that it needs to be replaced at 150K miles. According to the Ford 2012 Diesel Supplement manual, it may need to be cleaned at 120K miles, then replaced at 250K miles.
Deleting it when fails is of course an option, but by the time you get to that point, I'm pretty certain our emmissions laws will be similar to those in much of Europe. Remove it and you won't be driving it.
I don't spend my time worrying about things that may or may not happen that far in the future, especially when they're largely beyond my control anyway. Life's too short for that...

^^^^^^^^^^ What he said.... Deal with it IF it happens .....
For the most part i agree, i dont really spend a lot of time thinking about it, just one of those things that is always in the back of my mind and every once and a while it comes back into play. also agree that when i get to 150k or so the truck will probably be 10-15 years old at that point to spend 2k on a new dpf or money to delete is not a big deal. i really have not seen to many problems with the emissions equipment on these trucks but i am also somewhat new to FTE and have not spent a lot of time here yet.
Not too worried about it. I'll put about 175,000 on in the ten years I will likely run the truck, so out will be a toss up as of I have to service it or not. You tube has some people soaking/pressure washing the honeycomb. I've heard this works but have not had the opportunity to try yet.
