Spark plug?

OK, this technically isn't for the Ex (since it's a diesel), but I do need to replace the spark plugs in a Ford V8 soon. Problem is I've been running diesels for a long time and haven't really kept up with spark plugs.

Seems like there's lots to choose from now. Regular old fashioned, double tip, triple tip, platinum, kryptonite, thermo-nuclear tip, etc. Is one spark plug really any better than another, or is it all just marketing gimmicks? Is it worth spending extra for some fancy sounding spark plug?

Just stick with the tried and true Motorcraft platinum plugs.

Chris, it matters what engine the plugs are for.

What year is the vehicle and what engine?

Ok, it's not the 3V engine then.

The 3V engines use a two-piece plug that has a tendency to break.

For the 2V engines, Motorcraft and NGK plugs in the proper heat range were popular choices for the 5.4L Lightning owners.

It's probably a stock setup, no power-adder, correct?

I haven't really dug into it, but I do believe it is a 3v Stewart. It's a pony engine. I thought they were aluminum block, 3v, with 300 hp.

Edit: And I've got access to the tool kit designed to remove the broken lower portion of the spark plug assuming it's the same kit as the 5.4 plugs that broke all the time.

Sorry Chris, my brain was thinking strictly truck engines.
