I'm sort of laughing at the "runs great but...., drives great but.....1964 Ford color but... needs body work.... but.. but.. but.."
Numbers matching? does it matter? It's not like you are buying the batmobile here.

When purchasing a four wheel drive the numbers matter.

If the VIN does not have the correct F11 for F100s or F26 for F250 it is not a factory unit.

If it does not have them it better have a M-H or NAPCO tag on it.

Where is the right wrong bed? Where is the 4WD's 4 spoke steering wheel? Where are the 4WD 45" opening front fenders? Brake/clutch pedals/pads were only used on 1964 F100/250 2WD's.

This was a 1964 F100 2WD originally.

So is it wrong for a truck to be converted to 4wd, by anyone? At anytime?

It looks like a good project truck for someone that is not looking

For a factory correct truck.

It's just that the seller doesn't know what he's talking about.

No, but this is a Frankenstein monster, seller omitted the fact that what you're looking at, is a 1964 F100 2WD with parts swapped from a 4WD.

Three plainly visable examples:

Styleside Bed: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100/4WD // Should have 1957/60 "wrong" bed.

3 spoke steering wheel: 1961/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD // 4 spoke wheel: 1961/65 F100/250 4WD, 1966 F250 4WD.

B7A-2457-A Brake/Clutch Pedal Pads: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD // B7C-2457-A Brake/Clutch Pedal Pads (have raised nubs): 1961/63 all, 1964 F100/250 4WD.

Hmmmmm, F250 body on a factory F100 frame? No mention of how it is titled or vin number. Certainly a home brew.

Guess I will hang on to my '62.....didn't realise it was so valuable, LOL

Not wrong to do the conversion at all. What is wrong is to claim it to be a (FF)Factory Ford 4wd truck. I think it has a 2wd 64 body fabed onto a 64
4wd frame. Only a look at the frame vin will tell you that for sure. Front lower grille is 2wd version. Not sure what the transfercase shifter is out of but not from this vintage truck and of course it has the wrong styleside bed for this year. So if it is the correct year frame either the frame was lengthened or the rear axle was moved back. Might be a nice project but buyer beware

Went back and took another look at the pics. 4wd trucks of this vintage had the battery box mounted under the passanger floor board. This truck has the bat box under the hood thats defintely wrong.

Exactly! We see mods all the time, but claiming them to be the real factory deal in the age of the internet? Where does this seller get his information that it has the "correct code FF chassis with rare numbers matching factory 4X4 chassis" ? Or is this the BS the previous owner told him. Theres an old saying " if you repeat the lie often enough, they soon believe its true".
